Climate Neighbourhoods 2019

Part of the ICCA 2019, the Climate Neighbourhoods addresses ICCA's central question: How can vertical and horizontal cooperation lead to the intensification and dissemination of climate mitigation activities and adaptation to climate change?

With the motto Let's Scale Up Solutions!, this international event will promote practical discussions on the issue generally as well as its implementation. This year's Climate Neighbourhoods picks up on the 2015 Climate Neighbourhoods in Hanover, which provided important impulses for strengthening the municipal level that were incorporated into the international debate at the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris. This year, Climate Neighbourhoods will link representatives at all levels of climate action projects with the general public for an ambitious approach to fulfilling the demands of the Paris Agreement.

From 20 to 23 May, the Climate Neighbourhoods' Youth Climate Summit will offer young people the opportunity to actively contribute their perspectives on climate mitigation and adaptation through participatory elements. At the  Climate Neighbourhoods' Climate Action Festival on 22 May, interested members of the general public get their turn to get involved.

Climate Neighbourhoods addresses actors from local government, civil society and companies that are actively involved in climate action. Climate Neighbourhoods 2019 is sponsored by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and implemented by ifeu and Climate Alliance.
