Commission sets out the path to resource-efficient growth |
|
”The Roadmap for a resource-efficient Europe” will be one of the main initiatives proposed for the Europe 2020 growth Strategy. This follows the two 'roadmaps' already launched on energy and low carbon economy. The Commission has launched two working papers, which also include topics regarding to how to improve buildings and ensure efficient mobility. The target by the end of 2020 is that all new buildings are zero-energy buildings, goals set in the new proposal for a Directive on energy efficiency. Milestones and targets for the transformation of transport are set to to decrease GHG by 60% in transport sector by 2050 (EU transport emissions should drop by 1% annually until 2030, afterwards by 5% annually until 2050), as the Transport White Paper proposes.
