Half of the journey is (almost) done – Freiburg’s climate change policies show a clear impact!

Compared to the baseline year 1992, Freiburg’s greenhouse gas emissions decreased by more than 18 percent in 2009, so that the target set by the City Council "40 percent until 2030" has almost been achieved halfway.

These results are even more gratifying as they have to be reflected against a considerably increasing population: the per capita emissions could be reduced by 25.6 percent! The efforts of Freiburg in climate protection must and will of course be continued, as reducing CO2 is the result of a jigsaw of many individual measures building on each other and in all fields of actions.
